The competition authorities approve the Nordic electricity company's acquisition.

In October, Å Entelios signed an agreement with World Kinect Corporation to acquire the customer portfolios of the American group's Nordic subsidiary. Now, the competition authorities have given the transaction the green light.

The Norwegian Competition Authority (Konkurransetilsynet), the Swedish Competition Authority (Konkurrensverket), and the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority (Konkurrence- og Forbrugerstyrelsen) have assessed the potential consequences of Å Entelios taking over the customer portfolio from all the Nordic Kinect companies. The respective competition authorities have concluded that they see no reason to intervene against the agreement.

The transaction will be completed on February 1, 2026.

– “We are pleased that the approval from the Nordic competition authorities is now finalized and that all formalities for this strategically important transaction are in place. Based on the thorough assessments that have been conducted and the clear conclusions reached, the respective regulatory authorities see no evidence that the acquisition would weaken competition in our industry. Therefore, the transaction will proceed as planned on February 1, 2026,” says CEO Kolbjörn Hembre of Å Entelios.

The operations now being transferred to Å Entelios include everything from smaller companies operating in Finland, Denmark, Sweden, or Norway, to large pan-Nordic corporations with complex and significant electricity consumption. In total, the Kinect portfolio represents approximately 10 TWh per year. Å Entelios already manages around 34 TWh on behalf of its customers. Even with an expected loss of some companies that have so far been Kinect customers, Å Entelios will still, from the turn of the year, be one of the largest and leading players in the Nordic region.

Strengthens Å Entelios’ position in the Nordics.

According to Ingvill Heskestad Mykland, EVP Market at Å Energi, it is also important for the Å Energi Group, which owns Å Entelios, that the competition authorities have now given the green light for the agreement.

“This acquisition is in line with the Group’s strategy to pursue new opportunities that increase customer volume and portfolio management. It will both strengthen our position in the Nordics and improve our ability to manage all aspects of an increasingly complex energy market,” says Heskestad Mykland.

“Our goal with this transaction is for customers to receive more competitive prices and better services. With a larger customer portfolio, we first achieve operational synergies. This also enables us to manage an increased volume of portfolio administration, which contributes to greater liquidity in the financial electricity market and reduced price risk for our customers. In summary, we look forward to continuing to help both new and existing customers reduce their electricity consumption, electricity costs, and carbon emissions,” says Hembre.
